Travel Update

November 25, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

Just a quick note on what’s going on. I’ve driven several hundred miles over the past week. We stayed a few nights at Lake Conroe. Only one day was devoted to wildlife and we didn’t have much luck, although I have some bad photos of two new birds. Yesterday I got back from Abilene for Thanksgiving. On the way, I stopped at the Abilene State Park to check out the bird blind that was built a few years ago. It was a nice blind, but small. You are very close to the action, although there was very little during my visit. After about 20 minutes, the first birds showed up. A couple of goldfinches and several Pine Siskins were about it.

I have several sets of photos to go through, but it is unlikely there will be any more posts for quite awhile as I have alot to do for the rest of the year. I will be using Lightroom, which I picked up on sale before Thanksgiving. While I got a good price, it is now even more on sale, so now is definitely the best time to buy.

Oh, almost forgot. For whatever reason, there is alot of color in the trees right now. If you are in the area, the Abilene State Park is not a bad place to see the color. The drive between Austin and Abilene is very colorful right now, but there are few, if any, places to pull over safely and take some photos. Not to mention the surrouding area is not exactly scenic. For these reason, check out your local parks, you might be surprised at what you find.
