Canon announces S100

While I was away, Canon announced the S95’s successor, the S100. Despite the pointless increase in megapixels from 10 to 12, I think the image quality might actually improve due to a new CMOS sensor replacing the CCD one and better microlens layout. The additional inclusion of a GPS (!) means I will likely be upgrading next year from the S90. For me, the upgrade would also include HD movies and the ability to zoom while taking movies. Finally, the S100 has a wider and longer lens, albeit a bit slower. OTOH, there’s no news regarding a G13 yet. Perhaps they will announce something by the end of the year.
