Photo Time – Whistler

The full gallery. Many photos, so look at your own leisure. I’ll post some highlights and favorites here. Since there will be alot, I’m using small sizes.

This is our hotel. You will see this photo (or more likely, better ones) often in the brochures and postcards.

At the top of 7th Heaven Express, all becomes visible. The prominent feature here is Black Tusk, part of the Garibaldi Provincial Park.

My favorite sign of the trip, “Undetonated explosives may be found on the mountain.”

This one is for you, Bibi. I didn’t get to eat here, due to me being sick and all. Next time!

We attended the 7-11 Fire and Ice show. It does get cold just standing around waiting for it to start. It was worth it, but make sure you have enough foot protection.

Something you will see frequently are Inukshuk statues. This particular one resides at Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler mountain. Unfortunately the on-site photographers had set up base here so I had to do some creative editing to get rid of their equipment. I think it turned out well.

Whistler Village has what I think is a European feel.

One of my goals was to always be above the clouds, but still on the ground. Not a problem here. That is the village down below.

The Peak2Peak Gondola was very cool. This picture gives you an idea of just how long it is. The windows were extremely clean, so taking photos inside was not a problem, plus we had the whole car to ourselves.

On our backcountry tour, we got to see the ski jumps for the 2010 Olympics. They are much smaller than what I thought. If you’re at the top it is probably still tall :)

For a fee, you can shoot the targets used in the biathlon. We declined.

Finally, we have Alexandra Falls. It just thawed out a couple of weeks before we got there.
